There have been things done right going into this show and things done poorly. How does it all play out in the end? Let's find out!
Kickoff: Curt Hawkins vs. Mojo Rawley
Why would ANYONE give a shit about this match? It's had absolutely no promotion and involves two people who aren't currently involved in any storylines. Also it has Mojo Rawley in it.
Grade: C, the match was better than it had any right to be, but that's mostly because Curt Hawkins is good at what he does.
Becky Lynch vs. Mickie James
I've been looking forward to this match more than any other women's match on the card. Should be a good one.
Grade: A, I really like what they did here. Becky gets the win, Mickie still looks strong, and it was a good match.
Apollo Crews and Kalisto v. Dolph Ziggler
Grade: C, this match was a B until Kalisto came back and Crews and Kalisto won the match. I thought the pre-match attack was great, and Dolph vs. Apollo was going really well, but some really poor decisions lead to a bad finish. Ziggler should absolutely not have lost that match. The post-match attack does not make up for that.
Tag Team Turmoil
A lot of this match comes down to entrance order. Slyno are out first because they have no chance of winning, etc...
Grade: A, I didn't go into this with high hopes, but I come out with a renewed faith that they may actually do something right with The Ascension coming up here. Fingers crossed.
Nikki Bella v. Natalya
Speaking of things I don't have high hopes for...
Grade: C, we've said repeatedly that the physicality has been the best part of this feud and that the promos have been garbage, but this match was really lacking. Natty is still not good as a heel, and while Nikki did a good bit of the heavy lifting here the end left something to be desired. A double countout? I don't want this feud to continue...
Luke Harper v. Randy Orton
I am looking forward to this match. I'm intrigued to see where things go from here.
Grade: A, even though I think Harper should have gone over to give him some momentum in the split from Bray, but that match was undeniably great.
SmackDown Women's Championship: Naomi v. Alexa Bliss (c)
Naomi hasn't proven yet that she's worthy of this shot. Let's see what happens here.
Grade: D, that match did nothing to prove that she should be champion, including that last moonsault that could have seriously injured Alexa. Not impressed. Extra points off for the title change.
WWE Title: Dean Ambrose v. Baron Corbin v. Miz v. Bray Wyatt v. AJ Styles v. John Cena (c), Elimination Chamber
I have high hopes here, and the fact that Cena and AJ are starting has my hopes higher that Cena won't walk out as champion.
Grade: A, I don't think they should have had Baron go out first, but that did not take away from an incredible chamber match. Plus Bray Wyatt is finally WWE Champion, and that's alright in my book.
Average Grade: B-, some weird booking decisions drag us down a little bit
- New and improved!: I LOVE the new Chamber. Yes it looks like the Chamber of Horrors from 1991 WCW, but they've got more room to play and you can tell that after the Mark Henry debacle they saw they needed to make improvements to prevent that from happening again. Not a big fan of the ring apron, that steel grating just looked so much more devastating than these solid panels, that look like they might be made of wood, or even padding, and not metal.
- F-A-B-U-L-O-GO AWAY!: Why...why was there so much Carmellsworth on the show tonight? She was annoying on the Kickoff show and then we have to cut to them after every women's match? It just felt really forced, and I think it took away from the show.
Final Grade: B-, one up and one down means we stay right where we are. If you didn't catch the show, go back on the Network and at least watch the Chamber match and Mickie v. Becky. Then check out the Turmoil match if you have time.
That's it for Elimination Chamber, I'll be back in three weeks for WWE Fastlane!
